The word Yoga means to unite or to join. The 8-limb yoga practice helps unite one’s body, mind and spirit and by doing so it helps you remember you are spirit. When most people think of Yoga they think of the bendy poses and flowing through them as workout, but it is so much more. That physical practice of Yoga, the ‘Asanas,’ is just the surface, one-eighth, or the starting point of Yoga, that is intended to prepare you for self-realization, to whatever level one seeks to attain.
In 2010, I sought out yoga to help me heal and strengthen my back. It was at Desert Song Yoga and Healing Arts, in Phoenix AZ, I found the “right” studio. Their alignment focused Hatha style helped me heal back and shoulders, and eventually prepared me to be a bodyworker. As I progressed in my yoga journey I practiced Hatha, Ashtanga, Sattva Power Kriya, Kundalini and various vinyasa styles. Eventually in 2016, I received a 200-Hr yoga teacher certificate from Desert Song, learning under very knowledgeable and experienced Mary Beth Markus, Heidi Lichte and Debbie Kayatt. Ocean Song is named to honor what Desert Song gave me.
In the last few years I have shifted from the asanas (the physical practice) and focused on meditation and Yoga Nidra. The last 3 years I have been practicing various mediations in the Kundalini Tantra ways and recently received certification in Yoga Nidra.
At this time am currently not offering any specific yoga classes or sessions, but be on the lookout offerings in the future. I do use the alignment yoga techniques in my integrative bodywork sessions and provide one-on-one Yoga Nidra in energy-work and Reiki sessions.
